World Landscape Architect (WLA) is a weblog to provide built environment news and information for landscape architects and built environment professionals. To disprove the general view that Landscape Architecture is more than what happens in your front garden and that Landscape Architects are designers, artists, landscape managers, horticulturalists, urban designers and an integral part of the design process.
World Landscape Architect was started in October 2007 by Damian Holmes to encourage landscape architects to promote their work so that the world can see that landscape architecture is more than just rows of pretty shrubs and a nice front lawn. Landscape architecture needs a online voice to show the world that landscape architecture and the built environment is a widely diverse profession and industry.
World Landscape Architect is growing to be the go to site for all landscape architects and built environment professionals to have a voice and to involve the world in creating urban spaces.
DAMIAN HOLMES
Founder of World Landscape Architect is a passionate landscape architect who started his landscape career at the early age of 10 when designing a garden for his family’s new home in the greenfield suburban development in Melbourne, Australia. He went on to study horticulture at Burnley College (now Melbourne School of Land & Environment [University of Melbourne]) and then completing his Masters in Landscape Architecture at University of Melbourne. Damian went on to work in various architecture and landscape architecure firms for the last 11 years across the world in cities such as Melbourne, Sydney, Calgary, and currently Shanghai.
